Day After Tomorrow

Wow...I'm deserting my livejournal more and more these days.

It's just that my life has been so utterly boring the last couple weeks.... Really.
Jesse's afraid that he won't see me again after tomorrow because I have to pick some (practical) stranger up in Edwardsville before heading to the concert in Nashville.
I'm actually not scared at all...we've exchanged several emails and the guy seems so legit. Plus, Why would he give out his real name, address, and phone number if he was going to rape and murder me and leave me in a random ditch in rural central Illinois? "Pfft", says I. Anyhow, I still have one ticket available if anyone wants to go. Please...take it off my hands. I'm begging now.
Well....it's not like I won't be able to get rid of it at the venue if that's what it comes down to. It's just that I'd rather give it to a friend and bring another pal along for the ride. Nashville shows are always such a great time. :D

But yeah....this post is probably going to be really disjointed.

Bought Tom Waits' album, "Real Gone" today. I'd been wanting it for a while, and now that I'm listening to it I remember why. :) There are some really great tunes on here and the more I listen to his stuff, the more my I become a fan of his. He even manages to pull off a great job of acting in "Coffee and Cigarettes" (one of my favorite movies) with Iggy Pop. There are few musicians that can really do that...and I believe he has.
We also purchased Michael Hedges "Beyond Boundaries" the other day. I love this man's music. Too bad he had to die. But at least he inspired Keller Williams to write his own wonderful music. :)
I've also decided to start buying more music again. I just didn't have the funds there for a couple years. But that's changed now, fortunately. :) I think the next stop will be Mars Volta.

Moving on....
I finally got my Missouri plates today...and the sunfire is no longer The LEZRD....now it's just The Random Cog. I figure I'll wait to get personalized plates for it until we move away from KC (which we certainly will in the next couple years). Better than paying the $$ for those vanity plates more than once. I'm thinkin' when I do get them for the sunfire, they'll read "WHY IT"...and when we get our second car this coming Christmas, I think I'll get plates in honor of my online alias: "ISLNDE".....But I'll no longer bore you with talk of license plates.

Onward!
Going camping at Lake of the Ozarks this weekend with many people that I haven't seen for a long while. This will undoubtedly be the easiest camping trip of the season thus far....when compared to lugging many many pounds of stuff up and down the rocky, steep trail at Cove Hollow, camping at Bonnaroo and Wakarusa...
Maybe I'll bring a small dose of fun-guy ;) to enjoy while there. It sure seems like a great opportunity to do so.

I guess that about wraps up my microscopic, insignificant world for the time being.
I'll be back with another update after the show on Wednesday.

The day after tomorrow is a wonderful sound right now. :D

Oh, and here's an album of the better pictures from Bonnaroo:

Campin'

Krishane and Jessemiah:

I s'pose I will be seeing you two this weekend! 2 glorious (did I spell that right? hmm...) of eating s'mores, getting bug bites, peeing in the woods and acting like plain fools. Are you quite ready? I miss you both and can't wait to see all y'all! Summer classes swallowed my soul and I'm ready for some purgation in the Ozarks. I hope you guys are staying for both days. Mm hmm.

Re: Campin'

I can't wait to see you too! :) We'll be getting there Saturday morning and leaving Sunday afternoon/evening. It takes about 3 to 3.5 hours to get there from KC as far as I can tell. If Jesse gets off work early enough tomorrow, we just might be able to make it out for two nights. But... 'You Never Know'. ;) (see latest entry for the reference)

I'm excited! Still pretty pumped up on concert adrenaline here... teehee...I had the most wonderful experience.

Disjointed is good...

Just my speed. Mars Volta should be next. You can get both CDs for under $20, new. As in both for 20, not each. Real fucking bargain for something so brilliant and moving. And download the storybook for "Deloused in the Comatorium" @ www.goldstandardlabs.com. It adds so much to the album. Michael Hedges is fucking astounding, isn't he? I borrowed "Arial Boundaries" in high school... Prolly one of my first psychadelic experiences, and utterly without physical ingestion of any foreign substances...

Oh. And lugging heavy shit at Cove Hollow was so worth it. Quitcherbitchen.

Re: Disjointed is good...

Thank you for the advice. :-D
I think next up will be Mars Volta and then Robert Randolph...followed by The Word.

And I'm not really bitchin'.... Just stating a fact that the camping trip this weekend will be a piece of pie compared to the previous 3 camping excursions. :)....which were all worth it, mind you.

why mars volta sucks

Super cool groovies! naw they're amazing, i've just been nudging coffulus rockstien's electronic ribs for a minute here. as a matter of fact I think I'll call heem soon so i can make fun of him in person for immediate gratification and or reversal.

But of course darling, I came not to tease but to praise! your tastes are expanding like the mind of tim leary the first time he did that dose... rapidly.

Myselves have been hung up on the Gorillaz for the past couple weeks, so postmodern bricolage bittersweet (wait, scratch that, reverse it) satire ass shakin cartoon band. So that. But what really sold me was how an imaginary band is the most authentic thing on the pop charts. They kick ex-mouseketeer ass... watch your back mickey on the reals. Theyre website is a great timewaster too, check it out (gorillaz.com). p.s on the music tip, saul williams is gud. so is the day after tommorow, a personal fave meself.

WONKAFLICK= Tum birton's perfect drug movie. maybe too soon to say his best yet (scissorhands, ed wood... list goes on), I have a tendency to get very excited about movies I see due to various circumstances surrounding the first viewing. My imagination oft times fills in the blanks, leaving me with extremley subjective views.
But this movie was a blast. You don't need drugs to experience the thrill, but as previously stated, they are the perfect spice.
Johnny Depp pulls it off too, I didn't think his timid weirdo willy would fly, but when you watch the movie, you realize he's channeling tim, and in Tim's hands as a director this becomes almost touching, and definetley hysterical.
Warning: pee before you see it or the oompa loompas will make you tinkle your trousers.
The ending seemed a touch convoluted, this stemming from how closely it follows the book at points just to leave it, but it worked alright for me. I am no critic really, just something to note.

see you this coming weekend yo!

Re: why mars volta .

I like this post. But I have so much to say to it that don't particularly want to say right now because I have to type on J's laptop....which I loathe. The monitor on the other computer fried and fizzled out the other day....But we've ordered a new one and it should be here shortly.
